Nosa Ketting – crooked grind

This might become an annual update. Last year Rutger de Boer and I did not attend the Dutch Championships and instead opted for Amsterdam for some street skating and avoiding the rain and cold. This year it was still cold, but also pleasently sunny in Den Haag. I hooked up with the boys from Daily Business at Manus skateshop. From there we went to do some serious shredding.

When we got to this ‘wembley gap’, well known for those of us who went to see Daily Business at the Shoot Me festival, it got kind of busy.

Buddy Swinkels and I reminisced over the good old days at spui and the Games of Skate of years gone by. He also closed the day with this banging nollie fs heelflip.

Tristan Koelewijn’s part from Zev van Sluysdam’s ‘Zeker!!’ is online and it’s really good! So you better stop reading for a bit and start watching Tristan! Zev van Sluysdam put up his video ‘Zeker!!’ on vimeo. Although I still miss Tristan Koelewijn’s part, I’m really stoked to be able to see this video, as I like many others, couldn’t or just didn’t make it to the premiere. I have only seen Ricardo Paterno’s part right now and I can say that it is straight up amazing and knowing Zev from classic Dutch video’s as ‘Running Free’ and ‘City Limits’ I trust everything will be just as awesome. The video (including Tristan Koelewijn’s part) will also be broadcasted through Zev’s ‘Zeker!!’ website.

Nassim Guammaz – fs nosegrind

I had to be in Rotterdam, if only to switch trains, so I hooked up with Nassim Guammaz as he had the KFC rail on his mind. When we got there and before I could even switch lenses and Nassim landed a fs lipslide and a fs 5-0. Which I think is impressive, especially if you consider the hard winds that governed the spot. Eventually we got down to the business and Nassim landed his fs nosegrind. Fs noseblunt is still open for takers…

You might remember Visual Traveling from their video Translations. But they’re back with a vengance and are taking on one amazing route for a skate trip. Above you can see the trailer for the new video 10.000 kilometres and for the first time in ages I’m hyped on a trailer and cannot wait for the full length feature!

The bonus footage of the KWS video is online. In part one some of the highlights are: Dennie Brielle giving play-by-play commentary on his line at the Rotterdam cityhall, Alexander Belhadj and Dirk Middelkoop’s bs tailslides.

Part two brings us, amongst others: Robbin de Wit (both recent and old footage), some really good Robbert Joosten footage, Sneep and unused friends footage.

Last sunday Bas Janssen, Huupsch, myself and the Dutch Deluxe team (minus Rob Maatman) headed of to Zeeland to skate some less known spots, but 15 minutes before reaching the first spot it started to rain. Fortunately we prepared ourselves for a rain out. So we’d set sail for the Capelle shopping mall stairs.

Tristan and Nassim were fully up for some hammering, which left Huupsch filming while Bas and Ricardo Paterno played games of skates and skating the ledges. I got to shoot these sequences of Tristan’s warm up trick and Nassim’s nollie bigspin.

Last week Stefan Peters and 103 filmer Sjoerd Vlemmings dropped by in Utrecht. After a plethora of spots we finally found a spot which we could produce some footy at. When we brought Stefan to this picknick table he deemed a backside noseblunt too hard, but after a little effort he came through with the goods.
